This first printing poster was produced for two of the early founding acts of the San Francisco punk scene – The Nuns and Crime - performing at Mabuhay Gardens in San Francisco on March 16 1977. The poster was designed by James Stark (the signature is facsimile and appeared on all of the printings).
The Nuns began performing around various venues in the San Francisco area a year earlier. They were among the first punk bands in California and played their first show at the Mabuhay Gardens in December 1976 and quickly became regulars. Soonafter they opened for the Ramones and also the Sex Pistols.
