The Electric Circus nightclub locations in New York City and Toronto were popular music venues during the late sixties. This promotional poster was produced for the New York City location which promoted "playing games dress as you like dance sit think tune in and turn on". The Velvet Underground (their performances under Andy Warhol's influence) The Allman Brothers Band and The Grateful Dead all performed at the venue.
This poster was designed by the late great artist & writer Tomi Ungerer in 1969. Ungerer recently passed away just a year ago but left behind a vast legacy of work. The illustrator of many children's books as well as adult literature he also designed many political posters and film posters - including the promotional poster for the movie "Doctor Strangelove" in 1964.
