This is the FIRST example of this scarce relic we've ever auctioned! Here we have an Original Handbill from Baltimore Maryland featuring the Grateful Dead during their golden era of trippy psychedelic improv - right before they went in an acoustic direction with "Workingman's Dead" the following year. The group performed at the Lyric Theater on February 9th 1969 with the Chambers Brothers.
The shows were part of the first Baltimore Rock Festival presented by the Electric Factory. This handbill promotes shows over a span of three months at the Baltimore Civic Center and the Lyric Theater including Judy Collins Blood Sweat & Tears Spirit Nazz and Mother Earth. Early Dead material is one of the most popular collectibles out of all the Psychedelic San Fran sound bands. Deadbase lists this show (early and late) on 2/9 as happening though no set list or recording has ever surfaced. The Dead played in New York two nights later.
