The artwork here was created at a time and place when the legendary Stanley Mouse was involved in producing eclectic album cover art for several bands through the late seventies and into the early eighties. Through it all Mouse always continued to return to the Grateful Dead for graphics contributions. This is a preliminary drawing for the design layout he created for the Grateful Dead studio album "Go To Heaven" on Arista Records. It was only a short time after keyboardist Brent Mydland had joined the group. During summer of 1979 the Dead began recording new material in the studio for their forthcoming album released the following year. We estimate this original art was produced in early 1980.
Mouse's artistic achievements have been celebrated and displayed in major art museums such as The San Francisco Museum of Art The Detroit Institute of Art Boston Museum The Smithsonian Institute N.Y.
