This poster was designed by the late great Wes Wilson for a performance of the Beard at the Fillmore. The Beard was a play by beat playwright Michael McClure and it’s a true gem from the era. Although not a musical event The Beard was a perfect illustration of how inspired young artists pushed the envelope and created a new culture.
The main thing that separates these posters from commercially produced collectibles like baseball cards is their TRUE historical importance and value. Michael McClure was one of our nations most famous and cherished Beat Poets. His sad passing happened just a few weeks ago. Proof of McClure's worldwide impact was the INTENSE MULTIMEDIA COVERAGE of his death appeared EVERYWHERE. This is the FIRST public offering of this poster since McClure's passing. If the past is any guide to the future look for the demand to skyrocket for this issue with just a tiny number equaling the super clean specimen offered here.
