Between 1994 and 2002 the legendary Palookaville Music Venue in Santa Cruz California showcased some of the most talented and important artists of the era. From local bands to regional acts - and beyond - Palookaville hosted over 2 500 shows during its lifespan as well as producing a beautiful series of colorful original first print concert posters. This is a collection of 27 Original Palookaville Santa Cruz Concert Posters! All measure approx. 12" x 18" and are in Near Mint + Condition.
In 1999 Palookaville entered into a partnership with 2B1 Productions aka Maritime Hall in San Francisco. 2B1 Productions was a Family Dog reboot in San Francisco run by Chet Helms and others. From January of 1999 to August of 2001 a monthly poster/postcard was produced for both Maritime Hall and Palookaville. The artwork and numbered poster series MHP (Maritime Hall Productions) was the same for both venues however Palookaville had a much smaller run of posters/postcards.
The collection includes a Stanley Mouse MHP #119 and Lee Conklin MHP #59 poster and postcard as well as some early contributions from many of the “then” up and coming poster artists who are now established and rising to the top of the poster/art world.
Some of the acts that came through Palookaville included: Jullian Lennon Mick Taylor Noel Redding Dick Dale John Hammond James Cotton Steve Kimock Jerry Jeff Walker Slash and the list goes on.
There are a total of 32 posters and 27 postcards in the complete Palookaville collection. The reason for the difference in number of posters and postcards is because at the time of printing for MHP #66 1999 MHP #82 1999 MHP #94 2000 MHP #109 2000 and MHP# 117 2001 there weren’t enough funds in the marketing budget to print both posters and postcards for both venues. Palookaville only received posters for these months (postcards may have been printed for Maritime Hall but none were ever printed or shipped to Palookaville).
