HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! This (exactly 50 years old on Friday 5/15) original handbill was produced for Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention at Pauley Pavilion UCLA Los Angeles in May of 1970. It exhibits a special time stamp in the lower right corner of the handbill. This show was part of the "Contempo 70" run with The Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra accompanying and conducted by Zubin Mehta. This concert was also the premiere performance of some of Zappa's "200 Motels" material released with the film and soundtrack album a year later.
The audio recording of this Pauley Pavilion show has traded hands between Zappa fans for years and is quite popular. Flo & Eddie were in attendance that night which led to their joining the band. The Mother of Invention members performing at this show included Ray Collins Jeff Simmons Aynsley Dunbar Billy Mundi Ian Underwood Don Preston and Motorhead Sherwood. This super rare handbill is 100% Original with no restoration.
