Presenting the FINEST QUALITY CONDITION example of this original poster with CGC certification to ever appear in our auction! The Woodstock Music and Arts Fair is easily the most famous musical/cultural event of the 1960’s. The festival was originally intended to be held in Wallkill New York. Permits however  were denied and the festival promoters had to find a new location just a month prior to the festival. The festival was then moved to Bethel NY. The rest is history.

The original pre-concert first printing poster being offered here was designed for the original site by Fillmore East poster artist David Byrd. It is much harder to track down than the other popular woodstock fest posters. Over the years we have only come across a handful of them. Most were not CGC authenticated. Nor were they in this high quality condition. The fact that this piece is graded 9.6 and certified by CGC places it into a whole other dimension! Beat-up toned out and creased non-CGC examples have realized as much as $700 in our past auctions. Two years ago a lower 9.0 CGC graded example reached $3 738 in our auction. That was the first CGC graded specimen we'd ever seen. This superb piece here is in a different world by comparison!
