The FIRST APPEARANCE of this relic in our auction! Here's an Electric Prunes Original Handbill produced for a February 1967 appearance at the famous Continental Ballroom in the Bay Area. Incorporating psychedelia and elements of embryonic electronic rock the Electric Prune's sound featured innovative recording techniques with fuzz-toned guitars and oscillating sound effects. The band was signed to Reprise Records in 1966. Their #1 hit song was "I had Too Much to Dream (Last Night)".
The Continental Ballroom (called “Auditorium” on the handbill) is a rare treasure that is sure to gain attention from collectors in this auction. Artwork by Cannon (see The Art of Rock for other examples of his work for the Continental). The design was produced by the same artist who produced the artwork for the popular Continental Dead poster from several months later in October 1967. Material from this venue is extremely sought after and this original handbill is very uncommon in top condition.
