One of the more unique Globe posters we've ever auctioned - a Cardboard STANDING poster (with the folding flap on the reverse) produced for Mr Dynamite himself - The great James Brown! This piece is also special because of its original cut-out arch at the top which shapes the poster in a very unique tombstone style! The hardest working man in show business toured relentlessly in the sixties seventies and eighties. He earned names like The King of Soul and The Godfather of Rock n Roll and he’s forever celebrated as one of the top performers of this era!
From its opening in 1929 until its closure in 2010 Globe Poster Company in Baltimore was the go-to place for musicians circuses drag races and concert producers for bold eye-catching letterpress advertising. It's no secret that Globe cardboard concert posters are the gold standard amongst advanced collectors. They rarely show up at public auction and when they do they are always met with enthusiastic bidding!
