This poster advertises the "Armadillo Appreciation Week" concert in August 1976 with one of the venue’s longest running house bands Asleep At The Wheel. The Armadillo opened in Austin just after the closing of the Vulcan Gas Company. It went on to become the premiere venue in that musically rich city from 1970-1980. This legendary club offered an incredibly eclectic range of performers in its 10 year tenure. The posters from these shows represent one of the greatest collections of poster art available anywhere.

Demand for Armadillo posters is currently at an all time high and we see this as just the early days in a long trend. This can be attributed to several reasons including scarcity historical significance as ground zero in the Texas psychedelic scene and the recently published book on the venue "Armadillio World Headquarters - A Memoir" by Eddie Wilson with Jesse Sublett and forward by Dave Marsh.
