This poster promotes a 1994 concert by The King of the Surf Guitar the late great Dick Dale at La Luna in Portland. Dale passed away a year ago at age 81 after a long and influential career. His surf rock version of the Eastern Mediterranean song "Miserlou" was used in the movie Pulp Fiction and also covered by the Beach Boys Consider the Source and more. This is the first time we’ve offered this Original Poster in our auction! It was produced for hanging on telephone poles record store windows ticket agencies and coffee houses around town.
Material from the pacific northwest is always considered special by collectors. They often tell a story all their own and have a different vibe than pieces from other parts of the country. It’s hard to believe this poster is over 25 years old. “Telephone pole flyers” like this are highly collectible and are notably representative of the music loving culture that produced them. This poster is in Superb Museum Quality with no visible flaws of any kind!
