This early Greg Irons original poster was produced as the first venue poster for San Francisco’s Western Front. Iron’s was hired to begin designing posters for the famed venue by his friend Milan Melvin who was involved with the club in its infancy. This is only the second CGC graded example of this issue to appear in our auction.

The Western Front was a short lived and relatively obscure rock club that opened in June of 1967 in San Francisco’s Tenderloin district. The Western Front wasn't around long but still produced a handful of interesting posters and handbills. Native American themes and images were popular motifs among residents of the Haight and this piece clearly illustrates that reverence.

The poster graphic exhibits a false wooden storefront with a teepee behind it and striking color relationships. Irons went on to continue producing material for the venue most notably the following “grand opening” 6/28-7/2/1967 week issue featuring Big Brother and the Holding Company.
