Here is the FIRST example of this Original Handbill to appear in our auction and the first with CGC Grading we've ever seen offered! Too funny! J Edgar Hoover the founder of the FBI was not likely to be one of the hero’s of residents of the Haight. Hoover was known for exceeding his authority at the FBI and spying on subversives and radicals in the 1960’s.
This concert was billed as a tribute to the infamous figure at California Hall featuring San Francisco's own Blue Cheer: one the great unsung bands of the era. Their hard driving distorted sound was a major influence for future heavy metal and hard rock groups. Check out this great article about Blue Cheer.
The consignor of this lot acquired this handbill directly from JERRY ABRAMS' collection (yes the S.F. Bay Area Sixties "HEADLIGHTS" light show artisan / creator).
