This unusual later period Wes Wilson Poster announced the Haight Ashbury Festival in May of 1969. The central image of a ghostlike crucified man is curious and haunting. The event featured Country Joe and was held in the Panhandle of Golden Gate Park. The panhandle was the setting for many earlier Haight free concerts. This festival also featured The Pitschel Players. The Pitschel Players performed at many civil rights benefits and peace marches for a number of years. The 10 member performance company were all under twenty-five years old they lived in the Haight/Ashbury and commuted to the Mission theater.
