An original double-sided Handbill from the Apollo in 1952! Billing itself as a place "where stars are born and legends are made " the Apollo became famous for launching the careers of many incredible artists. The venue is currently a historical landmark.
Ella Fitzgerald made her singing debut at the Apollo when she was 17 years old on November 21 1934. Fitzgerald's performances pulled in a weekly audience at the Apollo and she won the opportunity to compete in one of the earliest of its "Amateur Nights". She soon became known as the First Lady of Song and later the Queen of Jazz. This vintage 1952 handbill is in Museum Quality Condition!
